A Baby’s IQ – How to Develop the IQ of your Baby in the Womb?

The earliest reference of educating an unborn baby in the womb is found in the 3500 years old Hindu scripture called the ‘Mahabharata’ where Abhimanyu, a skilled warrior, learnt one particularly complex war skill, when he was in his mother’s womb. This goes to prove the scientific importance of this technique way back then because the Indian tradition believes that the education of a baby begins from the time the fetus is conceived in the womb, which is why the elders in the family always encouraged positive speech, thoughts and ideas to a pregnant woman.

There are scientific evidences showing that an unborn baby listens and responds to outside stimulus as well as to its mother’s thought processes and the bond between the unborn baby and the mother begins from its conception in the womb. Therefore it is important to lay the groundwork of your baby’s personality and intelligence in the fetus stage, by listening to good music, reading calming books as opposed to horror or thrillers, positive thinking, positive speech, talking softly to your baby, yoga, meditation and a peaceful environment.

Certain research suggests that genetics alone does not establish your baby’s future intelligence. It is possible to shape your child’s potential with healthy and stress free living. In addition to healthy living, you can boost your baby’s IQ with the right kind of food.

Consume about 350 mg of folic acid obtained from food or supplement, daily from day one of conception. Folic acid is very important for the development of your baby’s brain and his spine.

Consume about 450 mg of DHA (omega 3 fatty acids) obtained from oily fish like sardines, mackerels, halibut, cod, salmon, tuna and herring, during the first trimester of your pregnancy. If you hate fish, you can take cod liver oil supplements. For the vegans, eat plenty of nuts like walnuts, flaxseeds, soyabeans and pumpkin seeds and nut oils.

Moderate stress levels are good for your unborn baby although you should take care that it is not often and does not spiral out of control, thus affecting your baby’s IQ and damaging its cognitive skills.

Gain and maintain a healthy weight as prescribed by your doctor by eating nourishing food. Reduced weight or excess weight can have harmful effects on your unborn baby and affect its birth weight and IQ.

Relax, be calm and happy throughout your pregnancy and let nothing ruffle you. If you find yourself slipping, take deep breaths, think of your baby and how it could affect its health and grin and bear it.

Pranayam or breathing techniques is excellent for you and your baby-and will ensure an easy and smooth childbirth.
